Leadenhall Market dates back to the 14th century, making it one of London’s oldest markets. Originally a meat, game and poultry market, it stands on what was the centre of Roman London. The ornate roof was designed by Sir Horace Jones in 1881, who was also responsible for the Billingsgate and Smithfield markets.
